The Last Storytellers

It's such a shame how things get lost in time. Languages disappear, stories disappear, crafts disappear, entire cultures disappear, and 2000 years later some curious archeologist uncovers only a small small piece of the puzzle, the rest left to the imagination.

But what if someone stopped that from happening to Morocco? What if someone came here, searched for the greatest storytellers, listened, translated, and bound every word in a book? The stories would live on.

British journalist, Richard Hamilton, shared stories from his book, The Last Storytellers, one night, here, in Marrakesh. We sipped Moroccan wine as we listened so intently to The Red Lantern and other "tales from the heart of Morocco."

"Storytelling is the purist form of communication."

Richard shared with us that 2 of the 5 storytellers whose words he printed have passed away since they last met. This simply displays the power of Richard's mission. With his book, he not only has preserved a special part of Moroccan history and culture, but he has also shared it with the world.
"When a storyteller dies, a library burns."
